RUCA’S FARM

A Rehabilitative Organic Farm for the Treatment of Israeli Veterans with PTSD

Why choose Ruca’s Farm?

The farm operates a unique and intensive treatment programme for Israeli veterans suffering from PTSD.

Based on research, they believe that supervised group therapy, combined with productive and meaningful agricultural work in the right environment, can help provide tools for recovery and getting back on track. Research has demonstrated that treatment combining work in nature and agricultural cultivation can elevate mood, reduce loneliness, improve physical condition, raise the effectiveness of drug treatment, and contribute significantly to the future success of those suffering from the severe effects of PTSD.

“I never thought I would smile again,” he said. “But at Ruca, I smile. I feel safe. I feel alive.”

YAIR’S STORY

A few months after October 7th, Yair arrived at Ruca’s Farm, carrying the weight of a day that shattered him. His unit was the first to reach the Nova Festival site, and the horrors he witnessed left him trapped in deep depression. Isolated and distrustful, he couldn’t leave his home—until Ruca’s Farm offered him a lifeline.
Healing trauma isn’t one-size-fits-all, and at Ruca’s Farm, Yair found solace in the rhythm of the land. Working with the earth, he rediscovered purpose, his hands busy with life instead of grief. The farm’s expert therapists guided him toward coping strategies, helping him face the memories that once consumed him. But more than anything, he found trust again—in the land, in the people around him and in himself.

“I never thought I would smile again,” he said. “But at Ruca, I smile. I feel safe. I feel alive.”
