Bat Mitzvah Trip Connects Families With Grassroots Causes

Nine girls celebrating their Bat Mitzvah year travelled to Israel during February half-term on a Myisrael parent and child trip, accompanied by eight mothers and one father.

The programme is designed to connect families directly with grassroots organisations supported by Myisrael, helping vulnerable children and adults across the country.

This marked the first Bat Mitzvah trip in three years, following the war and ongoing security situation. Over five days, families visited eight Myisrael-supported causes, gaining first-hand insight into the lives of those receiving vital support.

The group spent time at Susan’s House, which empowers at-risk young people through creative vocational training, Ruca’s Farm, supporting IDF reservists living with PTSD, and Click, which provides connection and care for elderly people, including Holocaust survivors.

Participants met beneficiaries, took part in project activities and saw how the psychological and social impact of war continues to affect vulnerable communities. For three of the girls, it was their first visit to Israel, making the experience especially meaningful as they deepened their connection to their heritage and formed lasting friendships.

Danni Franks, CEO and Founder of Myisrael, said:

‘Seeing these girls and their parents connect so deeply with the people and organisations we support was incredibly moving. They witnessed the strength of communities facing real challenges and the impact of grassroots support. To mark a Bat Mitzvah in this way – not only as a celebration, but through compassion and connection – is something that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.’

Esther Lee, who travelled with her daughter Jessica, reflected:

‘This was truly the experience of a lifetime for both of us. Sharing these days with Jessica during her Bat Mitzvah year was beyond incredible. It strengthened her values and I can honestly say it has made me a better person. It’s something we will carry with us forever.’

The trip forms part of Myisrael’s ongoing work to connect donors with grassroots causes across Israel, ensuring vital support reaches the vulnerable children and adults who need it most.
