How does Home Base transform lives through the power of music and football?
Many vulnerable people in Israel – including youth at risk, survivors of trauma, women in crisis, people struggling with addiction or mental illness, and those experiencing homelessness – often feel isolated, unsupported and disconnected from society. Without strong support networks, it can be incredibly difficult to rebuild confidence, stability and hope for the future.
Home Base helps some of Israel’s most at-risk populations regain a sense of belonging through the power of music, football and community. By joining one of Home Base’s football teams or women’s choirs, participants become part of a supportive group that encourages personal growth, resilience and connection. Alongside the emotional and social support, Home Base’s staff and volunteers work closely with participants to help with rehabilitation, employment, legal issues and reintegration into society. For many, it is the first time in years they have felt truly seen, supported and part of something positive.

MEET AMIR
Amir was the victim of sexual abuse during his teenage years. After serving in the army, he married and had two kids but unfortunately the marriage didn’t last. His life spiralled downwards after the divorce and he started abusing drugs. His financial situation worsened until he was eventually destitute and living on the streets. Home Base found him in a local shelter in Tel Aviv and invited him to join their weekly football sessions where he quickly became a star on the pitch and discovered good friends off it who understood his situation and willed him to change it.
Home Base’s dedicated staff and volunteers have supported Amir in so many ways over the past year – they have assisted him in finding a job and a permanent residence – and through the stability of regular income, he has started to pay his child support and reconnected with his kids. The Home Base team continue to work with him to ensure he stays on a positive path and Amir could not be more grateful to them for giving him the impetus to turn his life around.
